Default help required for wet lawn

Hi, first time poster here. I've just moved in to a house in south wales where one corner of the garden is fairly shady and gets very wet whenever it rains which means that it is getting quite muddy there and difficult to mow.

Does anyone know of any thirsty plants/shrubs that I could plant there to soak up the moisture? Other solutions would also be very much appreciated.
