Default Loire Valley Wines open gardens weekend, 9-10 June

http://www.opensquares-loirevalleywines.org/

Did any urglers from the London region go to this? I'm slightly
confused by the whole event. It's organised by the London Parks and
Gardens Trust, and is sponsored by Loire Valley Wines (who offer wine
tastings at some of the gardens) and others, including English
Heritage, and you need to buy a ticket which allows entry to all
participating gardens (£6.00 in advance or £7.50 on the day). But
where does that money go? Does it really cost that much to do the
website/produce tickets and brochures? Aren't the sponsors supposed
to pay for that? They're doing it in part for the publicity, after
all.

Some of the participating gardens looked enticing (including the
Branson-owned roof gardens in Kensington, which generously opened for
two whole hours), but the idea of spending a warm weekend trekking
across a congested and over-populated city was not...

"Loire Valley Wines" is a not for profit intra-syndical organization formed from
the various Loire Valley wine growers unions. It's mission is to promote Loire
wines, yes. But it's not like they've got a lot of money, nor do they make
anything if sales go up! They probably (almost certainly) get some government
money from Paris as well as Angers.

Aside from that I can't tell you anything about the specific event. Sounds fun,
though.
