Pesticides that just taste nasty
 

I am growing plants where red deer live.

The deer like to munch on my plants.

I am considering using pesticides - however I
don't want to poison anything

Are there commercial pesticides that /just/ taste nasty?

How about 'bittering agents' - such as denatonium benzoate -
would that work? Is it easily available?

What about homebrew recipies - will painting
something like lemon juice, clove oil and garlic
extract on to my leaves be effective?

Other web sites suggest it works against animals with 'wet noses' -
presumably by turning into sulphuric acid when they sniff.

It sounds promising. I may give it a try.
