Default Pesticides that just taste nasty

I am growing plants where red deer live.

The deer like to munch on my plants.

I am considering using pesticides - however I
don't want to poison anything

Are there commercial pesticides that /just/ taste nasty?

How about 'bittering agents' - such as denatonium benzoate -
would that work? Is it easily available?

What about homebrew recipies - will painting
something like lemon juice, clove oil and garlic
extract on to my leaves be effective?

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Thanks, Sacha.

....says that is 88% Aluminium Ammonium Sulphate.

``ALUMINIUM AMMONIUM SULPHATE: combines with moisture to form
sulphuric acid which causes eye, skin and respiratory tract
irritation. Ingestion in small amounts is not hazardous.
Large amounts may produce gastrointestinal irritation, stomach
burns, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.''

``Skin, eye and respiratory irritant. Toxicology not fully
investigated''

Other web sites suggest it works against animals with 'wet noses' -
presumably by turning into sulphuric acid when they sniff.

It sounds promising. I may give it a try.
