Wanted a very large, almost decadently beautiful, clematis.

I want a clematis that has the wow factor, noting subtle, small or
delicate, I have many of those as Charlie knows. What I want is in
your face, beautiful to the extreme of being obscene, any ideas,
colour preferred would be white but the single most important factor,
is the brief in the subject line.

I had a "henryi", but it died :-( That comes close. As does
"The President", which is an extreme purple.

Nick Maclaren.

C. Vyvyan Pennell is purple and well OTT but C. Arctic Queen is a white
double with flowers up to 6" across. Don't forget I told you about Guy
Sissons! Specialises in climbers.

Thanks Sacha, I like the sound of Artic White. I got some Gillian
Blades from Charlie but I left them at the other house, sadly.

I just took a look at Arctic Queen, gorgeous, now to see if I can buy
one here in France as postage is quite expensive to send them from
England. I took a look at Guy's site, brilliant unusual climbers, I
would enjoy half a day strolling round there

It belongs to a neighbour but I think it's a paeony. In flower now, a
month later than last year. We call it the poached egg plant

It is beautiful, I don't think I have ever seen one before.

Judith (slightly squiffy as I have had at least half a bottle of a
lovely crisp wine with supper at friends!!!)
