school, and it wasn't closed and I had to travel 5 or 6 miles from the

running - but they didn't. The next day my parents did think the snow
was a bit too deep to send me to school but after that it was school as
usual!

I travelled across Leeds by tram and bus to go to school in 1947, I never

a day

I do NOT believe you and Jennifer are old enough to have been at school in
1947!

I certainly am. I can believe Jennifer is too.

I can remember the cold winter and chilblains of 1944 too.

Should I now call you Father Time? ;-)

Yes ...

I can remember the cold winter and chilblains of 1944 too.

Yes ...

... and snow in 1940, I think - if pics of me sitting in my pram
aren't faked!

All I can say is, whatever you're on, I want some!

On topic - there were usually a few Snowdrops out on my birthday though!

Jennifer

Nothing seems to be stirring on mine - being born in mid-January makes for a
flowerless garden on the whole!

The River Thames froze at Kingston upon Thames and I can just remember being
pushed onto it in my pram. Towards the latter end of the war we would go to
an Aunt's Summer Residence on Hayling Island and I can remember travelling
down in some pretty shocking weather.

Ah - a week is a long time for a snowdrop - depending, of course, on
the variety. ;-)

;-) It is indeed. I think you, Val and I are all Capricorns. Does this
make us a herd, I wonder. ;-)
