How important are they?

If someone holds a door open for you, what do you say as you walk through?
Anything or nothing?

Do you rate Waiters etc as 'Servants' to serve you without the need for a
thank you?

Just a thought.

Might I respectfully suggest that you read some of today's posts, especially
one I have corrected. An adult's no doubt.

OR, do manners not apply in this newsgroup?

Kindest regards

I dont see any posts regarding opening doors? No I'm not being stupid, I
also think its bad manners to correct someone elses post! Very bad form.,
might I also respecfully suggest, childish too? (I also see the thread didnt
have your name on either, so therefore none of your business!)

OR, do manners not apply in this newsgroup?

Dont see any doors, except the one you make your exit through. Cant we
stick to gardening please, that is the name of the newsgroup, not
ettiquette.

Mike's problem is that he can't tell the difference between a chef and a
customer. (Or rather he's just trying to make trouble, which is why he's
a long-term denizen of my killfile.)

I actually think it's rather amusing that one of the rudest, most
ill-mannered people on usenet should try to lecture us all about
'Manners'.

Mike, where have you been? Opening a door for a lady is now an offence.
It could land you in trouble.

How anyone who constantly top-posts in a n.g. where the convention (and
netiquette) is to snip, bottom-post and use a sig. separator can presume
to correct other posters' manners is beyond me.

I visit my local offy regularly and see people of varied nationalitys come
in, ask for what they want, put money down and walk out without a word. Then
kids come in, fill a little box with penny sweets and always say thank you
as they leave. Some adults need lessons. Perhaps they should be refused
service.

Thank you Pete. Some of the dispicable replies to my post have proved just
that. Adults need the lessons.

Would putting OT in the subject line be within the remit of 'Manners'?
