Default Ceanothus.."Yankee Point "

Im about to recieve a "Ceanothus" free with an order of plants, apparently its ideal for growing against a fence, considering its height and spread would it be ok and survive planted between a couple of clematis as i only have the one fence or could i plant it in a large container now then replant it at the end of summer against a fence....sorry if theres three questions in one but i aint got the space to site it at the moment.........Cheers
