Default How hot should grafting wax be?

I am trying to do some grafing "in the traditional way" using grafting
wax. The waz is "Tenax" wax, the "right stuff"?

I am fearful of having it too hot, in case it kills the bud, there's
not much thinkness of plant to stop the heat.

But when I put the wax on with a brush, it crystallises and sets
straight away, I can't believe it will do any good. So is it too cold?
