Default Azlias peopogating

I transplanted my azalea but unfortunately it seems to have died.
During the transplant a small branch broke off and I put into a jar filled
with water.
The flowers flourished and now the foliage has appeared and looks very
healthy.
The branch is wood. Is there any chance that I could place it in soil and it
would grow?
