It's currently pounding down here. Actually quite a welcome change after
the heavy freezing rain of earlier. There are 1 inch icicles hanging off
of all the buds, some of these are pretty advanced too.

I sprayed copper on all the maples as a precaution yesterday, hopefully
it will help a little.

blown about by the wind. Most of it has gone now, but
it keeps snowing on and off. Temp in car at luchtime
was -1, with a really high wind chill factor, making
it feel like -6.

forecast for Brecon tonight is for -4, with a feel
like of -11. We are 350ft higher than Brecon, so it
could be a bit chilly!

Snow and ice pellets on and off since last night.

Covers the ground then clears away, then more comes.

The temperature see saws between +2 and -2, sometimes over a very short
time.

At the moment there is snow on the grass but not on the road.

Outside temperature is -1.6C.

Not looking good for the rest of the week either.
Met Office has yellow snow warnings until the middle of Thursday for East
Anglia.

We are predicted to be getting the worst of it, I think, because the wind
is coming in from the NE, although the worst weather is over the channel
at the moment according to the radar.

Well our snow flurries lasted about 10 mins, but there is still quite a
healthy breeze blowing and the temp is still at freezing point, so it
feels sub Arctic and I've had to work outside for about 3 hours, I now
feel a definite kinship with the Brass monkeys.

can use that in front of your maiden aunt ;-)

It's a myth, anyway, because the difference in the coefficient of
expansion of iron and brass isn't enough to cause that effect.
Nobody knows how that saying originated.
