Non-computer literate relative phoned to say she has got a new super laptop
with W8 but can't get her emails working.

On checking it appears the "new" Windows Email App (?) on W8 won't work with
POP email accounts only IMAP accounts. Their suggestion is to use web based
mail (spit) or ask your ISP to change your account to an IMAP one, probably
at extra cost. (has Microsoft gone totally mad?)

What email client program do you experts suggest she downloads to get her
emails, she does not use Usenet Newsgroups so that's not a consideration.

I couldn't get anywhere with our new laptop so I reverted to Vista, not a
lot of help! windows 8 seemed to want me to have a windows account before I
could do emails, I hate web mail so as there was nothing I liked about
windows 8, its gone.
