Try Lonicera japonica 'Halliana'. It's almost evergreen, highly
scented, and very vigorous.

I reported your suggestion to the gardener and she looked it up in her RHS
Encyclopaedia. 'Just the job, just what I wanted'

Many thanks

Best scent is from our own native Lonicera periclymenum, chose a good form.

Thank you Charlie. I have informed the gardener. She had actually looked at
that one but apparently it's not an evergreen, but will look at it again
following your recommendation.

Its not evergreen but never looks dead as it already has green buds on it
for next year, but evergreen is wanted L japonica is good unless in a dry
place then its dreadful for mildew.
