The site gives details of open days but also says they'll open for
groups. I just hope we can get there one day.

If you can manage an Essex trip, you will be able to see RHS Hyde Hall
among others. You simply must see Beth Chatto's garden:

It's ages since we went there, but definitely worth a visit if you're in
the area.

I would bother unless you want to spend a couple of hours on the A127
getting in to see a second rate sea-side town with a high street full of
charity shops and pawnbrokers. And then spend another 2 hours on the
A127 getting out again.
