cyclamen coum seedlings

I collected some ripe seeds from my cyclamen last year and planted them immediately. They germinated well, and I've about 50 corms about the size of a pea. They went dormant several weeks ago, but I've noticed they are beginning to sprout leaves again already. Does anyone know how long it takes before they reach flowering size? They're fairly fast if grown well. In particular, it's my experience that cyclamen come to flowering sooner if planted out than if kept in pots. If they're starting to grow foliage again, I'd pot them on singly without delay and plant them out later on in the fall. Around here, our very dry summers mean we have to hold off planting such things until September when the weather cools off and we start getting a little rain again. However, the English climate may be damp enough to allow planting them straight out now. -- Rodger Whitlock Victoria, British Columbia, Canada |
