I must say I don't know, my first thought was purple Basil (Also known as
Indian Basil), but no mater how much I rub the screen I cant get any smell
from it.
If so it is perennial but not frost hardy.
I would be inclined to take a few cuttings now to over winter, ( and would
post 1 to .........)

Hope someone can name it for you.

Hi David,
It does not smell much of anything.........

Not too sure about this, but there is a blue-flowered Teucrium. If so, I'm
fairly sure it needs some protection.

Thanks for looking Spider ! I've checked some Teucrium images on
Google, but it does not seem to be that.

Here are a few more details about the plant:

It's shrubby and not very tall - about a foot and a half high ATM
The stems are more woody than sappy
The leaves are smooth not 'furry'
The leaves are not aromatic
The underside of the leaves are dark purple (bit like the colour of a
heuchera)
The top side of the leaves is green/purple (looks a bit like a smooth
sage leaf)
The flower spikes are only about an inch long
The flowers on the spike are quite small
They do not have a scent

I've added a close up of flowers and leaves to the URL with a pound
coin for scale (I was going to use an euro but did not want to confuse
people !) :

It bears no resemblance to either of the two teucriums I have.
It's not this is it?..........

I have a feeling that this is a form of Plectranthus, the leaves and stems
with a purplish tinge, and when the plant gets cold and/or under stress they
will turn quite dark.
