Beth Chatto's garden or Great Dixter?

What do people reckon is the best time?

'Her who has been to Great Dixter' a couple of weeks ago suggests you go to
the library and get "Christopher Lloyd's Gardening year" (unless you already
have it) and you will see which time of the year 'you' want to go. The book
is divided down month by month with photos.

(Joan wants to go back in the Spring because it will be a different
'picture')

Hope that helps a bit :-))

V. good time to see what looks good at the end of an exceptionally dry summer, and in a very dry part of the country.

I went to Great Dixter a week or so ago and the gardens looked very
good...the mulberries were delicious ;-) It is a garden that will look good
whenever you go.

I've been to Beth Chatto's garden twice. The first time, a couple of years
ago in late August, and last time, last May. I definitely preferred the
garden in August. I'm very tempted to go with Jim and the Horticultural
group on their visit this weekend...but I really have too much to do before
returning to work on Monday ;-)

Whichever you choose...enjoy!

Natalie
