Hi

anyone got experience of removing a mature hawthorn hedge - is it a
difficult job in terms of root removal?

Its about 6-7 foot high and 3-5 foot deep. 50-60 foot in length - I'm trying
to estimate time/cost of removal for fencing replacement

How big? It is harder than privet and easier than yew.

Do you really have to get rid of it? A hedge that size should be a real
refuge for wildlife.

Could you not have someone come in and lay it - or even try to do it
yourself?
