Default Self-Watering Tomatoes

This year I have my tomato plants on a self-watering system using capillary
sticks.
What's the best way of feeding them?
I could just apply feed in the pots in the usual manner but this would
compress the compost so I would rather add it to the reservoir.
What strength do I need in the reservoir - I don't want to over-feed. The
first fruits haven't set yet so I have time to ponder over it.
I know someone will have the answer!
Thanks
