I use Google to view this group and it has become impossible to use

You could contact Google and ask them if they can filter the flood
postings. Or you could try using another usenet provider that is already
filtering them.

http://www.gardenbanter.co.uk/ and http://news-
reader.org/uk.rec.gardening/ also have web-based mirrors of this group
rather like the google one.

I don't know if the flood postings have made it through there or not, but
it's worth a try.
