Default Daz and Tulips

My garden has several clumps of a large bold bright red tulip. They were
there when we arrived 15 years ago.

My next door neighbour has lots. The year after he dug his front garden
up and put a drive in, they were everywhere.

I saw his son's garden fro the first time last week. It had these red
tulips along the front ...

So I asked what their significance was. He replied "Oh, they were six
bulbs, free with Daz in the 1970s!". Apparently his reproduce
enthusiastically and he has given loads away.

Now I remember the opalwear pyrex mugs and the plastic daffs, but not
the tulip bulbs. And I just wondered - anyone else still got them, and
any idea what variety they are? His must be one of the most persistant
free gifts of all time.
