Default Sunflowers and stakes.

Out in the garden there are some of last years sunflower plants. The
heads have fallen off, and the leaves - what is left is a fairly
rigid stem. Might these be useful as "bamboo substitute"?

I find they're not strong enough, and tend to rot pdq - ie in a season.
