What is the best way to propogate dogwood from cuttings ?

It's easier to peg it down to the ground and cut it free after it has
already rooted.

On a decent clump you can usually find a few pre rooted pieces occur
naturally. Indeed you need to remove them periodically to stop the stuff
spreading along the border. Variagated froms are not so vigorous.

I expect it will grow fairly easily by taking standard cuttings but I
have never bothered intentionally. The odd stick put in to keep cats off
the veg patch has been known to root though.
