Yes my fuchsias are flowering too and so are the nasturtiums. I am wondering
if this is the first year they will not die off but with today's Arctic
weather I think that is a forlorn hope

'Twas Mon, 9 Dec 2002 11:53:01 -0000, when "nicky"

thoughts:

My tuberous begonias fell to last night's frost, the first
biting frost of the season here at Borlochs Hall. This has established
a new record for begonia longevity in my garden, beating the previous
record (1996) by 26 days.

Several years ago I had fuchsias in flower (although somewhat bedraggled)
until Christmas eve and last year I had some in flower until new years

eve,
shame they didn't make it until new years day.

My apologies to Nicky for hitting the wrong button and personally mailing

I noticed yesterday morning that a patch of thrift has put up a fresh crop
of flowers, even though there was ice on the bird-bath and frost on the
grass. Also, at the weekend, saw a couple of smallish trees (cherries of
some kind?) covered in pale pink blossom.

They could be the winter flowering cherry, Prunus subhirtella, which
flowers all through the winder.
