as far as starting out with smaller plants, i've been buying dinky plants from
mellingers (in ohio) with great success. their prices are good, too. i got 4
(tiny) hydrageas for $16 and they're doing fine. still, i wouldn't mind
shopping at a local nursery if the merchandise is good and the price is right.
