My waterfall will be about 2' above the pump, but only about 3' away. I

That fountain head can really consume the flow from a small pump like a
1000. I have the 7000, and to get that fountain head to push 15 to 16
inches
would also affect my waterfall somewhat.

I definitely recommend a larger pump if you want both a waterfall and
fountain for your pond, or change the fountain head to the waterbell, it
uses less of the flow.

There are a number of parameters that need to be considered when
determining
pump size, and you have hit on the two that matter to you, which are the
size of fountain head, and having a waterfall. If your waterfall is 2
feet
above the pump, and let's say 8 feet away, and has a 12 inch lip(width
of
flow over the falls), and you want it to flow aggressively, the 1000
isn't
going to do it, you'll need something more like a 5000 or above.

My pond is about what I described above, and to get the waterfall to
flow
to
my satisfaction, I need the 7000, anything smaller would not do it.

You can never have too much pump when you have a fountain and waterfall!
