In article ,
says...

this is my first time here. i bought my first rose bush and need some
suggestions on how to plant it . i live in minnesota don't know which
zone that is,
i have a blue girl rose, it has a rose on it , a really beautiful one
that is so fragrant, and a new bud. i'm just in love with this plant
and i don't want to kill it. so if anyone could tell me what i should
do i would really appreciate it, i know i should have done more
research before buying one but i saw it and i just had to have it!
and if anyone could suggest any web sites on roses that would be great,
thanks !

here's John's website, he lives in minnesota, don't think there's any kinda
bush he doesn't like. but especially roses.

as for your blue girl, you might disregard those who badmouth this rose or
tell you how long it's going to grow, the fact is that with planning and
precautions you can pretty much grow anything anywhere.
It's a great rose, has survived the decades because one, it's beautiful if
properly cultivated, and two, it has a name which no other 'Blue' Rose can
touch, and believe me, they've tried.
It's kinda like trying to catch a rose named 'Peace'. Or 'Blaze'. Noone's
done either. But check out John's site, that'd be a pretty smart thing.

As for keeping it alive a long time, plant it in a place with some protection
from whichever way the wind blows and plant it close to your house, south
facing, and in your best available dirt, for me that's native stuff, I don't
bother with mixing a third peat moss, a third premium, and a third native
anymore. Put super phosphate or bone meal in the bottom of the hole you use.
After it gets going, fertilize it with the cheapest rose fertilizer on sale,
or any kinduv Miracle Grow, etc. Never let the hole dry out, water it every
day. Good luck.
