Default Garden clearance question

Hi folks,

Please forgive what is a fairly basic question from someone who
doesn't exactly do a lot of gardening.

I want to clear one of my garden borders to make my patio area bigger.
In order to do this I need to:
- dig up and dispose of the plants that are currently there (nothing
that I particularly want to keep)
- remove the soil from the bed
- break up and dispose of the concrete edging around the bed

The first bit isn't a problem. The local council will provide bages to
dispose of plant waste. However, they have stated that they won't take
soil or building materials.

I have a friend who can provide me tools to break up the edging. My
only problem is how to dispose of the concrete and soil. I've trawled
DIY shops for clues but with no success. Any ideas? The volume of soil
is not huge - the bed is about 10 feet x 2 feet max.

Thanks in anticipation.

Martin
