Default Planting a rose bush+cremated ashes?

Ashes are usually very alkaline! Where do you live? If your soil
conditions are already a high pH it is probably not a good idea. However

if
your soil is acid the ashes will help raise the pH.

Tim,

I am in Southern, CA, zones 9-10. I have great luck (knock on wood) growing
roses, so my soil is pretty good.
