Hi,
I grow a lot of 'old ' roses, in my experience is is nearly always the
original rose which is at fault if you have a problem[otherwise your
ht's
wouldn't be doing well]
unfortunately many garden centres sell inferior old roses, I have seen
them
with black spot rust etc.
I would recommend David Austin roses in Wolverhampton, they are a bit
pricey
but you will get a good mail order plant,
best wishes
Gea Jones
I bought the roses from Wych Cross Nurseries in East Sussex, a
specialist rose grower. I don't think there's anything wrong with the
plant, what there is of it looks healthy enough, no black spot,
rust
Seems strange, that is a strong rose, I have found this with old roses
though, some I have bought have done incredibly well in all sorts of
positions, soil etc. others just don't do anything,
the waiting is important though,
if you bought it in or near to flowering it won't do much till next year
anyway, take off the flower head , but don't overprune,
maybe buy another old rose, just for fun , and se how you get on,
they are more or less the only ones I grow, and I love them, especially the
scent,
Mdme. Alfred Carriere has covered half a wall in two years, and now, Pauls
Himalyan Musk is covering two wallls in three years,
My most successful has been Rosa Gallica Mundi, and all of the
roses , Penelope ., Prosperity, etc.
Good Luck
Gea
or otherwise, just a very small rose!
