Slightly OT. My mother asked me if I can find for her seeds for the "cat
grass" that you can find in Pet shops. After a google search it appears
that it is simply wheat or oat. I've looked for that in several garden
center without any success. Any idea where I can buy wheat or oat seeds,
rather than paying a fortune for a few seeds in a plastic tray sold as
"cat grass kit"?

Try a health food or organic food shop. You should be able to get whole,
un-rolled oats, and wheat, which ISTR is sold for sprouting.

I wonder if oats and wheat would be a bit coarse? Certainly the stuff that
comes up under my bird-feeder is, even when quite young.

One of my cats ate some the other day, then was sick, and managed to get
the grass looped round inside her, sticking out of her nose and her mouth.
Ew! So long, coarse leaves perhaps not ideal.

I think lawn grass seed would be just as attractive to the cat. It's
finer, and many garden centres sell it very cheaply by weight.
