What is it? Some of us MAY know it/them by another name, so tell
us what it is or what it is supposed to do.

It would seem to be a type of Bonsai soil or soil additive. I did a google
and found references to Kiryu as a sand added to Bonsai soils. It is also a
Japanese city.
