Bougainvillea is a tropical plant and will not withstand frost or
freezing. Since pruning tends to stimulate new growth you probably don't want to
do a severe pruning for about two months before your first likely frost date.
However since Bougies bloom only on new growth, they love to be
pruned.
Be sure to watch watering, you prune most of the green off and the
weather is cool with little or now growth it is easy to over water and get root
rot.
