Try using something like these.
I personally can't kill any little animals and don't want dead poisoned
animals under the ground becoming my fertilizer. Clean up and smell are also
an issue unless you plan on being out there every day to dig up the wholes
where they have died.

YOu have a better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa in your back yard than a
dead vole underground. Chuckle.

There are many natural ways to remove them without causing damage to your
lawn or garden or taking a chance on poisoning yourself, children, pets or
the water supply in the area.

Most (if not all) the current poisons are anti-coagulants and in
quantities to kill mice not people. My father takes coumadin every day
it used to be the primary poison but was renamed Wafarin back then. Now
they have others that mice and rats have not developed a resistance to.

Things are dying everyday. Ever
see those mashed squirrels on the road? No epidemics from them and no
harm from a vole decomposing in the ground.

Those repellants have to be continuously reapplied. Now the safest and
probably cheapest is a mousetrap, a bucket and a brick. Just put the
little body in the garbage can.

I have heard about some plants being a natural deterrent as well. I can't
remember which ones.
