Vole problem
Wish I could, because you are a Dukie, but the only advice I have is to try to drop moth balls into their burrow openings...if you can find them! Sorry...wish I could add more...

you can get those whirlygig ground thumpers...they vibrate the ground so the
voles leave... you can vole poison/traps although most vole tunnels are underground unlike moles I can loan you my cat she is a great vole hunter and mole hunter too... Now, if I could just figure out how to get him to lose weight when he catches his own food. -- Bryan C. Andregg Duke University Medical Center Programmer Dept. of Anesthesiology e p +1 919 684 6201 |

I cover with a bucket, placing a short piece of 1x2 under one edge and a brick on top. Bait with a peanut half smeared with a bit of peanut butter. Rozol pellets. They eat it, they die. Be sure the pellets are down in
the vole holes, so other critters don't snack on them. You may have to do a little raking to find the quarter-sized holes. Only thing I have found that actually works. And you have to do it couple times a summer since the little buggers multiply like.....voles. wrote in message news:Pine.GSO.4.53.0309201707001.13766@godzilla2. acpub.duke.edu... http://www.critter-repellent.com/vole_repellent.htm Try using something like these. I personally can't kill any little animals and don't want dead poisoned animals under the ground becoming my fertilizer. Clean up and smell are also an issue unless you plan on being out there every day to dig up the wholes where they have died. There are many natural ways to remove them without causing damage to your lawn or garden or taking a chance on poisoning yourself, children, pets or the water supply in the area. I have heard about some plants being a natural deterrent as well. I can't remember which ones. I hope you find this useful. -- REMOVE PANTS WHEN REPLYING wrote in message cpub.duke.edu... Clean up and smell are also an issue unless you plan on being out there every day to dig up the wholes where they have died. YOu have a better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa in your back yard than a dead vole underground. Chuckle. There are many natural ways to remove them without causing damage to your lawn or garden or taking a chance on poisoning yourself, children, pets or the water supply in the area. Most (if not all) the current poisons are anti-coagulants and in quantities to kill mice not people. My father takes coumadin every day it used to be the primary poison but was renamed Wafarin back then. Now they have others that mice and rats have not developed a resistance to. Things are dying everyday. Ever see those mashed squirrels on the road? No epidemics from them and no harm from a vole decomposing in the ground. Those repellants have to be continuously reapplied. Now the safest and probably cheapest is a mousetrap, a bucket and a brick. Just put the little body in the garbage can. I have heard about some plants being a natural deterrent as well. I can't remember which ones. I hope you find this useful. Funny yes. Useful no. -- Wes Dukes (wdukes.pobox@com) Swap the . and the @ to email me please. spam@www.spam.com is a garbage address. |

Vole problem
It might be usefull if they are like me and not wanting to take a life if
they don't have to. For me, I don't put a price on any living thing, but that is just me. I was only offering an alternative to death or poisons that for some people are safe, but for others are not. -- REMOVE PANTS WHEN REPLYING wrote in message . ..
