Default [IBC] This is winter ??

Bil: It's hard to have too much air circulation for your trees. A
simple box fan would be a lot more effective than opening up your garage
door and letting in all the cold outside air.

It sounds like my weather may be just slightly colder than yours but I
think the difference is minimal. I keep my trees outside on the deck
until typically right around Thanksgiving. Usually by then they have
had enough cold weather and shorter periods of light that they are
sufficiently dormant. About a week before Turkey day they were calling
for temps in the teens so we moved them that evening to be safe. How
early did your trees go into the shed?

One of the beauties of my unheated garage is that it is very leaky as
far as air circulation. That does sometimes mean more cold gets in but
it also provides fresh air and more importantly it guarantees the plants
don't get too hot no matter what the sun does. I keep an indoor/outdoor
thermometer running in the garage that stores the minimum and maximum
temperature. You may want to see what temps you are hitting in there to
be safe.

As we speak I actually have the garage door open to move some air around
and even out the temps. It does vary from year to year. We lost a few
plants last year that did fine the year before....so it is sort of a
guessing game.

Thanks Nina
Given your suggestions, I wonder if my trees haven't gone into dormancy
yet.
"Pre-Dormancy"???
