Default string algae

I have a problem with string algae on everything in my pond. Sides, plants,

appreciated greatly!

What causes it? Having a pond. ;o) What to do about it is more complicated.
Is this algae very long or just fuzzy? If just fuzzy, leave it alone, it is
not only your winter filter, but fish food. If long and tangling things up
and looking messy, use your hand or purchase a small plastic shrub rake and
rake the worst of it out, do not remove all of it, as again it is a filter.
Removing all could set you up to get pea soup algae.... prior to removing
it you might want to check your water parameters, ammonia, nitrite,
nitrAte, pH & Kh to make sure nothing is going on there. If your nitrAte is
high, do a water change. ~ jan
