Default Line drop out problem.

Hi Pax,

The speed at which you connect and the ability to stay connected are gauged
by the quality of your modem and the phonelines it connects to. Most people
blame the ISP for drop-outs when in fact it is simply that the phoneline you
get connected to simply cannot handle the speed at which you are connecting.
My suggestion would be to call your phone provider and ask them what the
best attainable speed is on your line(keeping in mind the minimum speed
guaranteed is 19.2k). Once you know this speed ring your ISP and ask them
for an initialisation string to set your modem to connect at that speed. Put
it this way if your best attainable line speed say 40k but your modem tends
to connect at 48k your modem will constantly error correct and in the end
drop out. By doing what i have mentioned this will help you, trust me I have
been on a helpdesk for 3 years.

Hi all

My modem connection keeps dropping out, sometimes after a couple of hours,
sometimes after an hour. I have adjusted all the window options I can

see.
I've still got the problem.

Does anyone know a neat trick or something.

Thanks in advance. pax
