What's small, green with black spots and a yellow head, and can strip a
standard rose of all its leaves in 2 days?

I've just remembered last year's menace and realised I've done nothing

about
it. What are they?

Thanks,

Laurence

Hi Laurence,

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to prevent a future attack.
Although once you have an infestation you can spray with a contact
insecticide, or pick them off and leave them for the birds.

I'm not sure which caterpiller you have but it looks like Melanargia
galathea / Marbled White, see http://www.whatsthiscaterpillar.co.uk/ for
more information, along with photographs.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Nick
