The soil is bare in the rings with deeper green grass growing stronger at
the edges

This beats me, I regret. I've never seen a F.R with bare soil and
no grass within the ring. This seems to be something quite exceptional. I've
never even heard of this before, as normally the grass within the circle
grows unhindered. The deeper green edges are normal.
