This is the worst year for black bean aphid that I can recall; they
are on EVERYTHING. And I have had to grub a good many of my French
beans as they have got virus, badly.

I saw a few ladybirds earlier in the year, but they seem to have
been eaten by the aphids.

Agree, first thing I noticed was our Hibiscus syriacus "Diana"

covered
in
blackfly when I've not noticed one on it in any other year now the

Runner
Beans on the allotment are covered. Still Ladybirds about here, a big

one
even took a bite out of Sue last week.

LOL Now that is really funny!

Sue didn't think so I can assure you. Anyone else ever been bitten by one?

Ladybirds can and do bite~~quite lady-like! The bite stings and is
similar to a nettle.
They bite only when handled or squeezed.
