Default Day Lilies killed by red bugs

(Mary) expounded:

My poor day lilies had the life sucked out of them by small bright red
flying bugs. I've had 6 years of success with their lovely
blooms--this was the first year they were infested! The leaves die
and the plant falls over. I thought day lilies were pest resistent!
Does anyone know what these terrible (yet pretty) bugs are and how to
avoid them in the future? Thanks.

Day lilies? You mean true lilies, don't you? The red lily beetle
isn't attracted to Hemerocallis, which is what's normally termed 'day
lily'.
