Maybe, but it could also mean that more gardeners are forced to indulge
their hobby by vicarious means, e.g., watching others gardening on the
idiot box? Also, it might mean that gardeners downsize to pot growing (!)
so the interest might not wane, just change.

Or people might be tempted to plant natives instead of roses and palms.
