Now I've got a bad head ache. ;-) Pam, all I can say is that if I missed
something important and misled you, I'm truly sorry. Our Dahlia imperialis
is single flowered and pink and to be frank, rather dull except for its
immense height. In our 'big double' greenhouse it goes out through the roof
and flowers sort of bent over and sideways! It is NOT gold.
David Hill's, which we have grown here in the garden is pink, double, not so
tall but much, much more beautiful. Ray thinks it's D. imperialis.
It flowers outside - if the wind hadn't knocked it down we reckon it would
have gone to about 8'or maybe more and the flower is lovely.
I'd like to suggest that if David Hill has the stock, urglers get this plant
from him and try it out in their various locations. It's remarkably lovely,
in our opinion and it would be very interesting to do a sort of mini-urgle
survey on how it does where and when. Up to David, of course but this is a
superb plant, IOO.
