Default How do I grow raspberries and blueberries?

(lcain) wrote in message . com...
Hello All:
I live in the south eastern part of Ontario. Can anyone tell me how
to grow raspberries and blueberries? I heard that you had to have
more than one plant in order for them to survive. Is this true?

They produce more if they can cross fertilize.

If
so, which two do I need?

Any two, as long as they are different varieties. Look at the labels
on the plant to determine the variety. I have Heritage and another
variety which
I collected from a colleague's garden.

Are there male and female plants or is that
a dumb questions? (hey, they have male and female plugs, why not
plants?????) Also, when is the best time to plant them?

Late fall or early spring. They thrive in acid, humic soil (the
blueberries more so). Fill the trench with peat and/or old wood chips
and you will be all set.

Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks
