What is a black walnut?

Juglans nigra, native of the eastern USA and grown as an ornamental
in the UK since the 17th century. Fairly common in arboretums and
the older (large) gardens.

And the nuts have a distinctive flavor quite unlike that of J.
regia. They're not particularly common trees even in their home
territory, and mature specimens are always at risk of being cut
down for the wood: it is a beautiful wood much sought after by
cabinetmakers and woodworkers.

Does it fruit well in the UK?
