Default Further to the Acer's poor foliage

I'm sure you know that they don't like pruning beside removing dead
branches. I never bring a secateur near my acers. I wait till the twigs
snap by themselves and remove them by hand. The Shirasawanum is so slow
growing I was surprised to learn that some people prune it hard back to
get a 'yellow' mop of leaves. I think it's a shame as I like the
natural shape they take - very japanese )
