Default Carnations will Not Bloom - Help

I purchased some carnations (dianthus caryophyllus) early last year but they
have never bloomed. They have grown long and the leaf part looks great.

Any suggustions why they have never bloomed?

Thanks,
Jim

Are they getting enough hours of total darkness at night? I remember a
story about a grower who always had carnations blooming in time for
some important football game, until the year they put a highway in near
his greenhouse. The car lights were enough to prevent them from
blooming.

cheers,
