Could you not just use a dawn to dusk sensor.

That would waste energy and pollute his neighbourhood night sky all
night long, instead of just the evening.

I had assumed that he would want to use it in conjunction with a
timeclock
which sets the constant off time!


You misled me with the notion of a "dawn" sensor !

That's a damned lie -you confused yourself with the notion of a dawn
sensor:-)
Any road he could always use the dawn trigger as a marker for the
calculation of when next to turn on the lights.
Any volunteer nerds to write the programme?
