I am new to plants in general too. I just got an anubia and was told
to keep it in the pot so I buried just a bit where the roots were
sticking out.

Should I remove the pot for best results?

It really does not matter- anubius feeds primarily from the water column,
and the roots are more for anchor than anything else.

Personally, I would remove the pot for aesthetic reasons.

If you do so, snip the sides and bottom of the pot with scissors, then bull
the rockwool off in small strips gently.
